Design in practice / Himalayan Rocket Stove, India
A design takes shape.
A local business brings it to life.
Himalayan Rocket Stove offers a public example of the connection between combustion design, regional manufacture and the everyday work of getting a product into use.
From development to use
Built around
real conditions.
HRS describes a design developed in Australia, adapted for Indian conditions and refined through field use. Its public history connects early prototypes and production in India with RMD’s research and design role.
RMD’s project collection identifies the Eco1 Clean Heater and Eco Mini as RMD designs manufactured or deployed with partners. Both names also appear in HRS’s public product range.
The useful thread is practical: a design, the capability to make it locally, and feedback from the people using it. A new regional partnership begins with those same questions, considered for its own circumstances.

Apply the approach thoughtfully
The next region
has its own questions.
What can be manufactured consistently? Which materials and skills are available? How will products be tested, installed and supported? What do local customers actually need?
The India example illustrates the work. It does not describe or disclose a fee, royalty rate, exclusivity arrangement or other commercial terms. Rights and availability for any proposed product or region are reviewed separately.

A useful first conversation
- Your organisation and proposed region
- The product, application and customers you have in mind
- Your fabrication, quality control and support capability

An enquiry starts a discussion. Product availability, rights, scope and commercial terms are confirmed before any agreement.
