Rocket stove design licensing / Package & process

From shared intent
to a buildable plan.

A clear product scope, a capable manufacturing partner and an agreement that makes the responsibilities plain. That is where the work begins.

Define the handover

A package shaped
for the agreed product.

The starting proposal is a materials and design package for a proven product, including SolidWorks design files. The exact product, file set and rights must be confirmed first.

Design files & version
Identify the SolidWorks parts and assemblies to be provided, the product revision and the permitted use of those files. File availability and compatibility are checked during scoping.
Materials & manufacturing information
Agree the material specifications and supporting information needed. Bills of materials, drawings, fabrication notes and assembly guidance are included only where confirmed in the scope.
Quality & local validation
Define production checks, sample review and responsibilities for testing and regulatory approvals in the intended market. A design package does not itself establish local certification or approval.
Handover, support & changes
Agree whether training, technical support or design adaptation is needed, and how it is priced. Set a process for proposed changes and document updates before production begins.

A practical sequence

One clear step
at a time.

For manufacturers and regional operators ready to discuss facilities, quality control, market access and customer support.

  1. Start with the region.

Discuss the people you want to serve, local fuel and use conditions, your manufacturing capability and the business you want to build.

  2. Check the product and rights.

Review the proposed model and version, relevant design rights, existing agreements and regional fit. Confirm what RMD can offer before promising a licence or sharing controlled files.

  3. Agree the scope and terms.

Define the package, territory, permitted activities, responsibilities, fee and royalty arrangement. Record the agreed terms before the design handover.

  4. Prepare and validate production.

Plan fabrication, sample builds, quality checks and any required local testing or approvals. Allocate responsibility for each step and review readiness before sale.

  5. Build, support and review.

Work within the agreed licence and quality requirements. Define how changes, support, production records and royalty reporting will be handled over time.

Commercial structure

A fee. A royalty.
Terms that fit the work.

The proposed arrangement combines a fee for the agreed design package and licensed scope with an ongoing royalty for manufacture and sale. Rates and terms are discussed after reviewing the product, region and partner.

  • Product, version, territory and permitted manufacturing and sales activity
  • Fee, royalty basis, payment timing and reporting
  • Duration, review points and any exclusivity
  • Design changes, branding, quality responsibilities and customer support
  • File handling, third-party involvement and what happens when the agreement ends

No region or exclusive right is reserved by an enquiry. The written agreement defines the rights actually granted.

Questions worth asking early

Can every RMD project be licensed?

No. Published projects show design experience, not a catalogue of rights available for sale. Product availability, file readiness, design rights and existing arrangements are checked individually.

Can the design be adapted to local materials or processes?

Potential changes can be explored during scoping. Substitutions may affect the way a product is made or performs, so design review and validation need to be agreed before adopting them.

Are testing, approvals or technical support included?

Only where they are explicitly part of the agreed scope. Responsibilities, deliverables and costs are discussed for the intended product and market.

Does the India example set the terms for my region?

No. It illustrates the connection between design and regional manufacture. It does not disclose commercial terms or establish the rights available for another partnership.

A useful first conversation

  • Your organisation and proposed region
  • The product, application and customers you have in mind
  • Your fabrication, quality control and support capability
  • Likely scale, timing and questions to resolve

An enquiry starts a discussion. Product availability, rights, scope and commercial terms are confirmed before any agreement.
